Charity Golf Day at Woburn raises a massive £35,000! – On Friday 6th August, 24 teams took to Woburn Golf Club for the John King Brain Tumour Foundation Charity Golf Day. Taking place on the stunning Marquess Course, the day commenced with a Stableford competition with teams of four in a shotgun start.
The day concluded with a delicious three-course dinner from the acclaimed Woburn hospitality team, an after-dinner speech by Mick Fitzgerald, retired Irish National Hunt Jockey and current television racing presenter, prize-giving and a live auction hosted by celebrity chef Brian Turner CBE.
Our auction had an array of enticing items, including Laser Eye Surgery at the London Vision Clinic by Professor Dan Reinstein, 5* Dining in Your Own Home with Adam Smith, Executive Chef at Coworth Park and Lewis Wilson Head Pastry Chef at The Ritz, a 7-night stay for 16 guests at Chalet Le Yeti, Méribel and Clay Shooting for 3 people at the Artists Rifles Clubhouse with former SAS member and adventurer Neil Laughton. Each item was personally donated so that the John King Brain Tumour Foundation received all of the proceeds.
Prizes were awarded, with Harry King’s team awarded overall winners of the Stableford Competition, Nearest The Pin: Charlie Hayes, Straightest Drive (ladies), Juliet Keeble and Longest Drive (men), Dan Birn.
Our thanks to our hole sponsors, Clintons and The Caron Keating Foundation, HR Owen Lamborghini who brought along some stunning cars on the day, The Duke of Bedford, all our auction and raffle donors and all the players who took part.
“The fundraising from the Golf Day means that we can start planning our next project which is to create a ‘Forest in the Sky” garden for Neuro ICU patients and their families, a haven away from the busy wards and a place where the nursing staff can take patients down to exercise and breath in fresh air which will aid their recovery.”
